The five of us had a rare gathering at our nephew’s (Otto Kemp) wedding in San Clemente in November.
It’s that time of year when we refect on the blessing of friendship and family. We’re glad you stopped by.
We’ve put together some photos and memories from 2024 – now coming to an end. The New Year is coming!
We are thankful for good health, our home of six years, the joy of parenthood and grandparenting, and the support of cherished friends.

Randy and Arlene have lived in Spring Green most all their lives. It’s as close to a family home as we share – Carolyn’s mom and dad lived next door in their retirement years.
While visiting Spring Green, we took in Shaekspeare’s King Lear at the outdoor American Players Theater. Carolyn’s brother, Roger, and Janet joined us for the daytime performance.
Judy, Carolyn’s sister, and her husband Bruce weathered the storm Helene. We surveyed damage in the neighborhood. The Campbell’s home escaped serious damage… but Bruce and Judy spent five full days without power.
Dennis was a classmate at Moody Bible Institute, and then, along with Mary Ann, studied with us at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. We’ve stayed in touch through the years though we lived on both sides of the country. Now retired, Dennis served as President of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary with distinction for close to a decade.
One of my best pals from Bible School, Scott Chesebro, went on to earn his Ph.D. at Notre Dame. He spent his career directing the Chicago Center, entertaining college students from across the country a semester at time to both earn college credits and get an up close and personal experience of the city of Chicago – mainly the South Side. We spent a few days in October with Scott and Norene, walking the University of Chicago and checking out the massive Obama Presidential Center – under construction.
While attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, I was Youth Pastor at the North Suburban Ev. Free Church in Deerfield – 1972-74. We attended a reuion hosted by Youth Group leader Brad Thompson in Arlington Heights, Illinois – 5o years later.
Every other Sunday, we gather with friends from all over the country for a group we call “Spirits and Spirituality.” This is our second 4-day, 3-night retreat. Last year – Whidbey Island. This year – Lake Hartwell in Georgia.
